District Deputy Report:

Happy New Year! We have completed half of our fraternal year and it has really been great. Our Councils have held so many activities in the Surge with Service areas that it is hard to believe there is more to come. I know there will be more and I look forward to taking part in as many as I can. Keep up the good work and do not coast for the second half. There are so many things we can accomplish.

A good start for January would be to take part in the Basketball Free Throw competition. I would really like to see all councils in District 3 participate in some way. The kit is available from Supreme or if you are starting small, I have a kit that we can divide among those who may need material. Give it some thought and even if there are only a few participants, it will be something to build on for the coming years. The District competition will be in February and will be hosted by Terry Waters of 12127 Our Lady of Guadalupe Council.

Membership is also critical during the second half of the fraternal year. Many of you are getting very close to your totals for Star Council. We have a great opportunity during January to really build on our membership numbers. We have First Degrees scheduled for January 2 @ 2323 Montgomery, January 9 @ 6901 Our Lady of Fatima, January 18 @ 11024 Fr Horace McKenna and tentatively January 27 @ San Juan Diego. There is also a Second Degree scheduled for January 20th @ 3:00 PM at 2323 Montgomery. This is a great chance to bring many of our First Degree brothers though the second step of their journey to Knighthood.

We need to be mindful that the 4th Degree Exemplification is fast approaching. March 11, 2007 is the date set aside for this very important event. I am sure there are many 3rd degree Knights that need to be asked to step up to the Patriotic Degree. Grand Knights our time is running out. Please remind your councils that you whole heartedly support the 4th Degree and encourage all 3rd degree members to contact the Fraternal Navigators of the Assemblies covering District 3 and get the information that they need to apply. I too have the information and I will gladly share it and pass your applications on to the Assembly of your choice.

The March for Life is scheduled for January 22, 2007. If for some reason you can not participate in the March, I encourage all councils to plan some sort of Church activity to pray for Life. We live our Faith when we serve those in need and strive for justice.

May God Bless our Efforts

Vivat Jesus
